Our Favorite Shops & Farms

Here’s a list of our favorite local nurseries, garden shops and flower farms in Culpeper and the surrounding area. It has been fun discovering so many unique, locally owned businesses. We are new to the area, so I’m sure there are many more special places. Share your favorite gardening shop or farm in the comments section.

Morningside Farm Nursery, 7855 Griffinsburg Rd, Boston, VA

Morningside is our favorite place to buy native plants, perennials and annuals. Many of the native flowers being sold can be viewed growing in the display beds. The owner, George, is a wealth of knowledge, and he offers both great advice and great prices. The nursery hours are seasonal, so call or visit the website before heading out. Sign up for their email newsletter, and follow them on Facebook to learn about specials.

The Market at Grelen, 15091 Yager Road, Somerset, VA

You really have to see this place to believe it. It’s located just south of Orange, VA, and it neighbors James Madison’s former home, Montpelier. The Market is a 600 acre tree farm, pick your own nursery, garden shop, cafe and more! The venue is so beautiful they even host weddings. We love the garden shop and their selection of plants, pots, fountains and garden & home items. The trails are pet friendly. Check their website for operating hours, follow them on Facebook, and sign up for emails to be alerted to events and sales.

We found our center-bed birdbath fountain at Grelen.

Botanical Dwellings, 404 South Main Street, Culpeper, VA

Beautiful plants, pots, garden and home decor conveniently located right on Main Street. Botanical Dwellings is our go to place for house plants, cute pots and gardening gifts.

Burnside Farms - Nokesville Farm, 11008 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, VA

The three week “Festival of Spring” is amazingly beautiful as over two million tulips and daffodils are in bloom. The festival is very popular, so sign up on their website to receive an email notification when tickets become available. We had a blast on our visit and we came home with a basket full of beautiful bulbs!
